We do culture – with Berlin for Berlin

The image shows a lively scene in front of Berlin Cathedral at dusk. Many people are walking or sitting around, including some seated by the columns of a historic building. The Berlin TV Tower is visible in the background. Large white text in the center of the image reads: 'Long Night of Museums – 30.08.2025'.

  • 80th Anniversary of the End of WWII

  • EURO 2024 Festival

Football fans from all over Europe are invited to experience a unique festival in celebration of the Euro 2024 in Berlin. Visitors can make their way to the breathtaking Fan Zone Berlin, where they can take advantage of large-scale public-viewing opportunities at the world’s biggest football goal, but also enjoy a pop-up park and a comprehensive programme of cultural events and entertainment as part of the FUSSBALLKULTURSOMMER during the UEFA EURO 2024.

  • 35th Anniversary of the Fall of the Berlin Wall

It’s been 35 years since the fall of the Berlin Wall and the subsequent collapse of an entire political system. These events marked the high point of what came to be known as the Peaceful Revolution in the German Democratic Republic (GDR). The tremendous courage of those who took a stand against the GDR dictatorship – and the joy felt around the world at the highly symbolic breach of the Iron Curtain on 9 November 1989 – would go down in history.

  • June 17, 1953 – People’s uprising in the GDR

On the occasion of the 70th anniversary, an exhibition in Berlin’s urban space impressively tells of the people’s protest and its suppression by Red Army tanks and GDR security forces.

  • 30th Anniversary of the Peaceful Revolution – Fall of the Berlin Wall

For seven days at seven original historical sites, Berlin remembered, celebrated and paid tribute to the Peaceful Revolution and those individuals who had the courage to resist the regime of the GDR.

For one full weekend in 2012, Berlin celebrated its 775th anniversary, took a look back at its eventful history and called for even more tolerance and openness to the world.

The 125th anniversary celebrations paid homage to the fashionable “showcase of the West” and brought a new shine to the Ku’damm.

  • Day of German Unity, Berlin 2018

Over the course of three full days, Berlin joined with hundreds of thousands of people to celebrate 28 years of unity and freedom in Germany and Europe.

  • 100th Anniversary of the Bauhaus in Berlin

Highly moving images from the key event marking the anniversary were seen by an audience of more than a million people in Germany and abroad.

  • 50th Anniversary of the Building of the Berlin Wall

We joined with the Berlin Wall Foundation to pay tribute to the victims of the Berlin Wall and the division of Germany in a very special way.

  • 75th Anniversary of the End of WWII

Berlin commemorated the end of WWII and the liberation of Europe from Nazi dictatorship with a week of theme-based digital events.
