Science Year 2010
With five of the most important science institutions marking key anniversaries, we celebrated Berlin as a capital of research and knowledge.
A series of exciting science-related events succeeded in bringing a million visitors closer to Berlin’s rich landscape for science and R&D, thereby making it quite clear that the capital was going to continue to be an important and diverse site of research with regional, national and international weight.
Our approach always combines specific event organisation with accompanying campaigns and initiatives, and we seek to involve as many partners as possible at all times. Each and every commemorative occasions calls for appropriate projects, events and communication. And this is exactly what we accomplished as part of the “Science Year 2010” in close cooperation with our partners, many of whom are Berlin stalwarts with rich scientific traditions. In fact, five of the oldest and most renowned institutions in Berlin were celebrating anniversaries in 2010: the Berlin State Library (350th anniversary), the Charité – University Hospital Berlin (300th anniversary), the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences (300th anniversary), the Humboldt University (200th anniversary) and the Max Planck Society (100th anniversary).
Science Year 2010 attracted over one million visitors and showcased Berlin’s rich landscape of science and research.
