We had originally worked together with many partners to create a comprehensive programme of events featuring a large open-air exhibition and festival on 8 May, but then came the nationwide shutdown prompted by the Covid-19 pandemic. As a result, we made the decision to transfer the programme into the digital realm, drawing on generous support from the Lotto Stiftung Berlin (Lotto Foundation Berlin). Thanks to our many years of experience creating and implementing digital projects, it took us only a couple of weeks to successfully devise a brand new event concept using new media formats and embedded in a digital-based \u201ctheme week\u201d from 2 to 8 May.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"row\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"col-xs-12 col-md-offset-3 col-md-6\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"box\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<read-more inline-template>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"copy_read_more copy\" ref=\"body\" style=\"height:0;overflow: hidden;display: none;\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div><p>We reached several hundred thousand people via our online virtual exhibition, podcast series, augmented-reality app and Berlin-wide poster campaign. Each aspect served to recall Nazi tyranny and its terrifying consequences and the achievements of the Allies who put an end to Nazi terror. In other words, even in times of mandated social distancing, we were able to effectively convey history and foster a contemporary discussion on the importance of the end of WWII.
