This legendary festival for media arts and digital culture brings the world’s creative avant-garde to Berlin every year.
On Berlin’s annual cultural calendar, the last weekend in January is always fully devoted to the transmediale. In the course of its more than 30-year history, this wide-ranging festival for digital culture has emerged as one of the world’s most important events for media art experts, artists, scientists, activists and creatives. At the same time, fans of experimental electronic sounds can enjoy the “CTM Festival” – known as the “club transmediale” up to 2005 – which takes place at the same time as the transmediale and features outstanding international electronic music, visual art and audiovisual performance, more or less transforming Berlin into one big laboratory of sound.
Far beyond its annual festival in Berlin, the transmediale functions as a dynamic platform for interdisciplinary exchange and experimental art productions.
